Alumni Awards Nominations

Thank you for your interest in nominating an alum or friend for an FHSU Alumni Award. Nominations for the 2024 year are currently being reviewed. Each year, the Fort Hays State University Alumni Office presents accomplished alumni and friends with awards in honor of their achievements and/or service. We invite you to submit nominations for Fort Hays State University in one or more categories by reviewing the award criteria and selecting the appropriate award. Recipients of these awards are celebrated throughout Homecoming and recognized at the Alumni & Friends Awards Banquet on the Friday evening of Homecoming weekend.  

The Alumni Achievement Award honors graduates of the university for outstanding achievement based on meritorious service to society or the community. The award is based upon career and professional achievements, service involving community betterment and philanthropic activities, and educational achievements. It is the university's highest recognition of its graduates. Achievements could include evidence of innovation or research that leads to advancement of a profession; participation in community affairs or other community strengthening pursuits; and additional certifications or leadership initiatives. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a continuing concern for humanity on a universal, national, state, or community level; support spiritual, cultural, and educational objectives; and endorse and exemplify the highest standards of character and personal attributes. The Nita M. Landrum Award, established in 1994, recognizes alumni or friends who have provided sustained volunteer service for the betterment of the FHSU Alumni Community and/or the university. Previous Recipients
 

The Young Alumni Award is designed to recognize those who have had outstanding achievements and recent accomplishments early in their careers. The award is based upon professional and educational achievements, community activities, honors and awards received, and other noteworthy items of merit since graduation. Candidates must hold a degree from FHSU within 15 years of the current award year and be under age 40 as of Jan. 1 of the year the awards are presented. Previous Recipients  


Nominations are confidential and the identity of the nominator will only be made known to the nominee upon permission received by the alumni office from the nominator. Nominees will be notified only if they have been selected to receive an award. 

On page 3 of this nomination form, please include or attach supporting information for your nominee.  

The FHSU Alumni Office reserves the right to consider or recategorize the nominee for any appropriate award. Current FHSU Alumni Staff and Alumni Board Members are not eligible for consideration.  

Deadline: February 2, 2024. Nominations submitted after the deadline will be considered for the 2025 award year.
